UEFA finalise Man United’s Europa League decision as Marcus Rashford future is clarified
UEFA have confirmed that Manchester United will play in next season’s Europa League campaign as Marcus Rashford’s future is clarified.
According to The Times, UEFA are set to rule that Manchester United and OGC Nice will be allowed to play in European competition next season, despite the clubs both being owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team.
Following Erik ten Hag‘s FA Cup win, the club had achieved the grounds for qualifying for the Europa League, but there was some dispute over whether both sides would be allowed to play as Nice had also qualified through their respective Ligue 1 position.
However, UEFA are set to rule in their favour, although it is said that the clubs will be told that the 2024/25 season will be “viewed as a transitional one” and that less leeway will be given in future seasons.
This will also apply to Manchester City after both their and sister club Girona qualified for the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Journalist Ben Jacobs has clarified the current state of Marcus Rashford’s future at Old Trafford.
Rashford, at the moment, remains committed to Manchester United and, like every player at Manchester United, the players are just waiting to see what this new sporting regime is like,” Jacobs explained.
“They’re prepared to be patient because they’ve had a lot of face time that they didn’t really have with the Glazers, so they understand what the ownership are trying to do.
“Many of them, including Rashford, have been told directly they’re important, and that could be a big thing for him just focusing on Manchester United and trying to rediscover the form.
