Workers Are Backbone of Our Economy – Ella

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Amb. Nicholas Agbo Ella, has commended Nigerian workers on occasion of its celebration on may 1st, 2024 Workers Day.

Revealed that every year, Nigeria joins the rest of the world in commemorating the International Workers’ Day on May 1. The event has its roots in the Labour struggle of the 19th century. In Nigeria, the holiday was first celebrated in 1981 in recognition of the enormous contribution of workers to the country’s socioeconomic development.

According to Agbo Ella, Labour Day reminds us of the sacrifices workers made on a daily basis to keep the oil and gas, other industry running smoothly.

“In furtherance of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, we are committed to improving workers’ welfare,” he Agbo said.

The theme of this year’s May Day centres on workplace safety and health amidst climate change.

Urged every staff member of the ministry to imbibe the work ethics that promote safety and healthy living.

Happy Workers Day, Ella noted.
