David Moyes insists West Ham board still back him despite heavy Premier League defeat to Newcastle

West Ham were thrashed 5-1 by Newcastle at the London Stadium on Wednesday, with huge numbers of home supporters leaving early; “I’ve got no doubt they are behind me,” David Moyes says of Hammers board; Declan Rice slams “schoolboy defending” as West Ham hover above drop zone

David Moyes insists he still has the backing of the West Ham board despite his side’s 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Newcastle on Wednesday night.

The result leaves the Hammers 15th in the Premier League table, but they are only outside the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of Saturday’s trip to London rivals Fulham.

Despite the heavy defeat, Moyes will still be in charge of the East End club for this weekend’s trip to Craven Cottage, although it is a game the Scot cannot afford to lose.
