The Plateau State Police Command has reacted to the attack on some villages in Mangu Local Government Area of the State, saying his men are on the trail of the fleeing attackers.
The Commissioner of Police Plateau State,CP Bartholomew N. Onyeka, in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, expressed sadness over the Attack carried out on the people
The statement reads: “the Commissioner of Police express deep sympathy to the good people of Plateau State on the unfortunate incident that took place in Bwoi District of Mangu LGA, which claimed the lives of yet to be identified persons from various villages within the area.”
On the attack, the police command explained in the statement that “on 15/05/2023 at about 1156hrs, a distress call was received from one of our Police officers in charge of Tanknale Village of Mangu LGA that some unknown gunmen are shooting sporadically in a nearby village.”
According to the statement, the State Police Command upon receipt of that information, the Commissioner immediately mobilized all assets in the Command to the scene to ensure that the suspects were arrested and brought to book.
The statement said the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID, Assistant Commissioner Police, Bawa Sale, who was also present at the scene, revealed that men from the command with the help from other security agencies gave the attackers a very hot chase

It said as a result, the criminal elements abandoned about four (4) motorcycles and one Sharan Vehicle with Plateau State registration number (MGU 988 HK which they recovered and are presently in the custody of the STF and in addition to some other items used for their nefarious activities.
“As we speak, the culprits are on the run while our officers are still on their trail with the aim to ensure that they are neutralized and if possible, arrested, the statement read”.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Police in the statement assures the good people of Plateau State that all necessary measures are being put in place to ensure peace and forestall any future occurrence of such inhuman acts.
“The CP in the statement further urged the people of Plateau State to continue to offer the Police all necessary intelligence as that will go a long way to help them in investigations, assuring that the Command keep them informed on developments concerning the attack.
