The Lagos state police command has issued a statement to address the false narratives on the dispersing of citizens at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State.
Lagos Police public relations officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, via his official X page, addressed the incident saying: “there was an agreement with the organizers of the candle light procession that the procession was to end at 8pm latest and should terminate at Muri Okunola, Victoria Island. It was clearly stated for avoidance of doubt that in the interest of all Lagosians and considering the heavy use of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, the Lekki Toll Gate would be a no-go area.”
He further explained that those who went to the Lekki toll gate clearly disobeyed the rules and we’re there with the intention to manifest objectives which was different from the #justiceformahbad initiative, messages and pleas were sent out to the people to disperve as they were causing heavy traffic and blocking every possible movement.
The commissioner of police, Lagos state command expressed he’s support to the #justiceformohbad movement he also issued a warning to all citizens that although they are free to continue the movement but anybody or group trying to disrups the peace will be dealth with and punished according to the law.
