The National vice president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, North Central, Nazareth Bako Jesse has opened up about her experiences in the film industry.
In an exclusive interview, the filmmaker said Nollywood should not compared to Hollywood or Bollywood because the former is younger but she believes the Nigerian movie industry will surpass the giants.
The Nollywood thespian affirmed that she had experienced sexual harassment in the film industry. She said “Yes of course I’ve been harassed. I am not ugly am naturally endowed, beautiful and stubborn,so definitely some men will want to use any means to get at Me.
She cited accessibility to finance as her biggest challenge in the industry as she intends to have one of the biggest film studios and a film village in Abuja.
“As a daughter of the soil and a film maker, I have always reached out to the youth and interested individuals in my field, its in my tenure as the mayor of Abuja, AGN gbayiwood was created by my brother Prince Kure to bring all the sons and daughters of this kingdom who are interested in entertainment together, so far alot of films have been shot in my dialect and we are planning to do more.”
While addressing allegations of affairs with other AGN members, she said “the fact is success is always tied to something negative, I am a very focused person, I came into the industry with short and long term plans and one of them was to become a very important person in the industry either in acting or politics, every position I have attain I merited it, while some are busy gossiping and backbiting am busy planing my next move. In everything I am today, God has been the source of it all so let them say. Tomorrow I might become the first Lady of Nigeria.
